I decided to write this post about pink dresses because my fiance and I are planning our next trip to Paris and I remembered our first (and last) time together in the City of Light to attend a wedding. My fiance (just my “friend” at the time, according to him) was the groom’s best man and I was his plus one. The ceremony and the reception were taking place at a Chateau around Paris and the theme was pink roses. So far, so good. I love Paris, so I was so excited to go. It was a summer wedding and I asked my fiance if there was a dressing code and he said no.
I was completely blindsided. I googled “what dress to wear to a French day wedding in a Chateau”. In my mind, it could be anything from black-tie to cocktail attire. I kept asking my friend/fiance and he was blank. So I decided on my outfit, a bodycon handmade crochet dress that I ordered exclusively for the wedding. Before starting the dress, I confirmed with him if there was no dress code, to what he said no, of course.
Well, I guess you know what happens right? Halfway into the process of making the dress, he tells me that the bride has a single request: that all the guests wear something pink. I was just back from my time off-the-grid in the Canadian Rocky Mountains and not only I had zero nice clothes, but I had nothing pink, not even underwear. And the budget I had (cause I stick to the budget no matter what) for the wedding I had spent on the dress.
