Pink Convertible Car Seats IN THIS ARTICLE

There are only a few and good pink convertible car seats in the market this year. Just like what happened with pink car seats for infant girls, the inventory of pink convertible car seats was considerably reduced for 2021. But that’s not a problem, because there are beautiful options, from reliable brands, for every budget, lifestyle, and taste from soft blush to bright fuchsia pink.

Convertible Car Seats for Babies 101

Long story short, a convertible car seat converts from the rear-facing position to the forward-facing positioning according to the child’s growth. Convertible car seats that also turn into a booster are called 3 in 1 car seats! Everything else “in 1” that you see related to car seats are marketing creations to get attention!

Convertible Car Seats Safety

Specialists and the American Academy of Pediatrics strongly recommends infants to be driven in car seats in the rear-facing position for as long as possible and children to be driven in a car seat or booster until they are tall enough to wear the seat belt properly.

There are 2 main criterias for car seat safety: compliance and proper installation. Sticking to both of them is the parent / caregiver / driver’s responsibility.

  1. Compliance: all car seats sold by retailers in the USA must comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 213 and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) guidelines. So, make sure you chose car seats from reliable brands and trustworthy retailers that respect federal law (not counterfeit).
  2. Proper installation: try to install your car seat as soon as you get your hands on it. As much as the manufacturers do R&D, not all seats will be perfect for every car model out there. Also, not all people can figure it out instinctively. And it’s better to be safe than sorry. If you are not sure, you can call the manufacturer, reach out to the fireman, look for a certified passenger safety technician (CPST or CPS technician). If you still don’t feel safe, you may have time to return it and get another one without losing money.

How long is a convertible car seat going to last?

It depends on the model/brand you choose and your baby’s growth. Both the height and the weight limit for each position are particular to each brand and model.

Some parents choose to skip the infant car seat and go straight with the convertible or all-in-one. So here are the most common pros and cons I’ve been reading about on hundreds of parents reviews:

  • Pros: you may save money and research time, buying only one car seat that will last from newborn to preschool years depending on the model you choose and your child’s height and weight.
  • Cons: convertibles are not made for mobility. They are heavier and they must stay in the car, unlike the infant car seat, which can be easily carried with the baby in it. Also, some parents may find the convertible car seat too big and uncomfortable for newborns during the rear-facing position stage.

Once your little princess grows she will have different habits from the infant era. It will be time to face a whole new world in car seat features needs: even easier to clean (the snack mess and pucking are real), hassle-free to install in both positions, quick to buckle up, cup holders, how many car seats will fit in the back seat, how easy is it to travel with, etc.

Pink Convertible Car Seats with Standard Rear-Facing

Cosco Scenera NEXT

Rear-Facing: 5-40 lb | Forward-Facing: 22-40 lb

Cosco is an American brand from Indiana. They’ve been on the market for the past 70 years and some of their products are made in the USA.

The Scenera NEXT is a lightweight low ticket convertible car seat. Although it may not be the most padded convertible from this list, it’s very convenient for plane trips, carpooling, and packed back seats!

What real moms say:

“I used this car seat to fly on Southwest. I was able to use the tether strap to hang it on my stroller’s handlebar through the airport. It’s very lightweight and easy to handle. We also used it in the car while on vacation. My child flew so much better in this car seat than she does as a lap child. She’s usually a complete nightmare on flights. Having her strapped down helped so much.”Delnel24, September 2020. Review from Walmart.com

Cosco Mighty Fit 65 DX

Rear-Facing: 5-40 lb | Forward-Facing: 22-65 lb

Cosco is an American brand from Indiana. They’ve been on the market for the past 70 years and some of their products are made in the USA.

The Cosco Mighty Fit 65 DX is a comfy but sleek convertible made in the US.

What real moms say:

“We have Maxi-Cosi car seats as our primary car seats in the minivan. These were purchased solely for my husband to do pickup and drop off at daycare. I went with these because they allow for the most room upfront and they are fairly compact when rear-facing. I read through all the reviews and we have had zero of these issues that others have had to install not one, but two of these in the car for our one-year-old twins. We plan on keeping our children rear-facing until they are thirty pounds and currently they are barely twenty pounds each. I recommend everyone to read through the booklet that comes with the car seat and familiarize themselves with installation as it might differ from other models or brands.” Mother of Twins, Aug 2017. Rear-Facing: 5-40 lbs | Forward-Facing: 22-65 lbs | Booster: 40-100 lbs

Of all pink car seats in the market, the Maxi Cosi Pria 3-in-1 Sweater is the daintiest one. IRL the colors are even softer than in the picture, so it’s a car seat really made for fairytales princesses! Apart from being cute, parents love how plushy the fabric is and the comfortable padding.

What real moms say:

“We love road trips and this little mama was not a fan of her infant car seat, the Pria 3-in-1 has been a game-changer! It’s so much more comfortable making her love car rides now! It’s so soft and easy to clean. The best part, you can start using it as an infant. 🙂 Top-notch of car seats!” AriMaywood, 2020. Review from maxicosi.com

Pink Convertible Car Seats with Extended Rear-Facing

Graco Extend2Fit

Extended Rear-Facing: 5-50 lbs | Forward-Facing: 22-65 lbs

Graco has been in the baby products business for more than 70 years and is renowned for safety innovations that go beyond American standards.

The Graco Extend2Fit has some extra features compared to the previous (cheaper) models on this list. The rear-facing limit is extended to 50lbs, which follows more recent safety recommendations. The steel-reinforced frame adds extra safety up to European rollover testing procedures standards. Parents love it for being a sturdy, yet compact convertible, being a great fit for smaller cars.

What real moms say:

“We love this car seat. We upgraded our old convertible car seat because it had a hard time rear-facing in our car (the passenger seat had to be all the way forward). I read on the Car Seats for the Littles page that this car seat did well in smaller spaces, and boy were they right! Not only does it fit beautifully behind the passenger seat (with my seat all the way back and the car seat fully reclined!), it was also a breeze to install. The LATCH buckle design is genius. My son likes his new car seat and actually said, “So soft, mommy!” when we put him in it. We bought a second one. They’re just that good.” erinolds, 2015. Review from gracobaby.com

Diono Radian 3R All-in-One

Rear-Facing: 5-50 lbs | Forward-Facing: 22-65 lbs | Booster: 40-120 lbs

The Seattle-based company is as modern as its hometown. Diono’s car seats have a steel core and are made to last up to 10 years. Parents love the extra safety features and the sleek design.

What real moms say:

“We have one 3RXT and now a new 3R. They are both wonderful car seats, feel very sturdy and high quality. We also found them relatively easy to install. We have the angle adjuster (sold separately) for both. The 3R is slightly easier to get our child into since it doesn’t have the headrest that the 3RXT has.” Katherine S, 2020. Review from Diono.com

Clek Fllo Convertible

Extended Rear-Facing: 14-50 lbs | Forward-Facing: 22-65 lbs

Clek is a family-owned Canadian brand renowned for manufacturing car seats built like a tank and for the use of non-toxic materials.

Unlike the previous models on this list, the Clek Floo is not suitable for newborns, being recommended for babies starting at 14lbs. The rear-facing limit, however, is extended to 50lbs, which will give you some extra safety time. The steel substructure and anti-rebound bar really make it sturdy like a tank and the sleek design fits 3 in most backseat. Finally, CZero+ performance fabrics are a blessing for neat freaks.

What real moms say:

“We’ve been using this car seat now for 3 years and ready to purchase another for a second child. It feels very sturdy and our son doesn’t complain about it. He’s still rear-facing at age 4.5 and almost ready to switch to forward-facing.” Nathalie, 2020. Review from albeebaby.com

Peg Perego Primo Viaggio Convertible Kinetic

Extended Rear-Facing: 5-45 lbs | Forward-Facing: 22-65 lbs

Peg-Perego is a traditional Italian brand that manufactures its car seat in Italy. The differential? Compliance with European safety standards that are known to be more strict than American’s.

The Primo Viaggio may not be the most popular on the list, but the reviews are encouraging. Parents love the anti-rebound bar and the extended rear-facing for extra safety and the padded seats with soft fabric for baby’s comfort.

What real moms say:

“We debated this seat against the Nuna Rava, both are in the same price category, have similar features, and great reviews. Ultimately we went with Peg Perego because of the anti-rebound bar which very few others offer in a convertible seat. We love it! It’s easy to use, easy to clean, and has the most advanced safety features available. It is also extremely comfortable for our baby, who spent over 50 hours in it on a cross-country trip, who seemed very relaxed and at ease, with good body positioning and optimum angles. We are very happy with our purchase and Albee Baby offered the MOST competitive price on the market! Fast shipping too!.” Mal, 2019. Review from albeebaby.com

Clek Foonf Convertible

Extended Rear-Facing: 14-50 lbs | Forward-Facing: 22-65 lbs

Clek is a family-owned Canadian brand renowned for manufacturing car seats built like a tank and for the use of non-toxic materials.

What’s the main difference between the Foonf and the Floo? According to their customer service, they have the same safety, design, and fabric features, except that the Foonf has 3 reclining positions. The brand listened to the customers biggest complaint about the Fllo and fixed it on the Foonf.

What real moms say:

“We have never felt safer with our girls in these Clek car seats! We have a 16 month old and a now 5 year old both in these seats! Both sets of two (one for each of our cars) were gifted on their 1st birthdays and the 5 year olds seat looks just as new as her little sisters ! We have tackled reflux/spit up, potty training, and car sickness in the seats with ease not to mention long car rides from Ohio to NC and back with not even one complaint from the back seat!” Jordan, 2021. Avoiding counterfeit car seats

All the car seats featured at The Mood Guide are said to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 213 and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) guidelines. Of course, counterfeit sellers don’t care about safety or their reputation. They are scammers trying to cash in some easy money.

That’s why we only feature renowned manufacturers and a few trustworthy retailers who are not infamous for selling counterfeit. Plus, we decided to include this information in every car seat post we are updating in 2021 because it feels right.

At the end of 2019 the CNN released an article about counterfeit car seats being sold online and how dangerous they can be. Even more disturbing was to find out that online stores, unlike brick-and-mortar, can’t be legally accountable for selling counterfeit.

Not all online store is a villain, though. The main sources of worry are marketplaces that sell directly from third-party sellers, without any control over what’s shipped to your house.

This accountability gap, besides unlimited greed and lack of humanity, is what enables scammers to sell fake products online.

In March 2020, the Shop Safe Act , a bipartisan bill, was introduced in hopes to incentivize e-commerce retailers to take steps to avoid counterfeit offers of products that can cause health or life risk to American people.

What can we do?

In the meanwhile what we can do to protect our kids is spread awareness and be extra careful about the retailers we are buying from. If something looks too good to be true, then it probably is.

Therefore, if we can prevent at least one person from buying a fake unsafe car seat that can cost a child’s life, it is worth it.

As much as we are brought to believe that we are too small to make a difference, it’s our money and our shopping that sustains the economy. We are the buyers, we have the power.
